THORNVILLE: George E. Sagan, 67, of Thornville, Ohio, passed away Monday, February 7, 2011 at Fairfield Medical Center.

George was born August 30, 1943 in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Stephen W. and Alfreda M. (Skillman) Sagan.

After his retirement from Ohio CAT, George became active with Honor Flight Columbus. A dedicated guardian, he participated in numerios flights and felt a special kinship with the Veterans he attended to. He was a member of the Somerset American Legion Leo Ryan Post 58 and St. Rose Catholic Church in New Lexington, Ohio.

George is survived by his wife, Idelle (Young) Sagan; his daughters, Heather (Arthur) Cecil and Kristen Sagan; grandchildren, Gwendolyn, Meredith, Emily and George Cecil; and brothers, David E. and Thomas W. Sagan.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert S. Sagan.

Friends may call from 3-5 and 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at the Bope-Thomas Funeral Home in Somerset, Ohio where Rosary will be recited at 4:45 p.m. Wednesday.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 10, 2011 at St. Rose Catholic Church with Father James Csaszar as celebrant, asisted by Monsignor Robert Metzger. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catolic Cemetery with Somerset American Legion providing military honors.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Honor Flight Columbus, 2185 Ridgecliff Road, Columbus, Ohio 43221.
