MRS. JOHN J. WHITE
Ethel Vera White was born near Minneapolis, Kansas, on December 23, 1889, the daughter of G.N. and Margaret Merryfield, and passed away at the Asbury Hospital in Salina on January 8, 1967, at the age of 77 years.
On January 1, 1911, she married John J. White of Ada and they lived near Ada and Minneapolis throughout their married life with the exception of three years in Manhattan. John preceded her in death in 1959, as did one son, Francis, who died that same year. Three children survive: Deane White of Ada, a daughter, Mrs. Margaret Scheibeler of Bennington, and a daughter, Mrs. Helen Belt of Midland, Texas. Also surviving are seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, and a brother, Everett Merryfield of Salina.
She was a kind and loving person, very devoted to her family, considerate of all, and her death will leave a deep void in the lives of her family and friends.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at Antioch Baptist Church of Ada, of which she was a member, with the Rev. C.E. Bodenhamer officiating. "Peace in the Valley" and "Beyond the Sunset" were sung by Mrs. Kent Shafer and Mrs. Walter Walmsley, accompanied by Mrs. Jack Shafer, organist.
Pallbearers were Kent Shafer, Chester McCullick, Carl McGavran, Norman Parsons, Walter Walmsley, and Keith Mullen.
Burial was in Fairview cemetery at Ada.
Funeral arrangements were in charge of the Haley Funeral Home.
