Helen L. Spiers Harris Peterson, 92, loving and caring mother, passed away peacefully February 4, 2011. Helen was born November 1, 1918 to Edwin and Elizabeth Spiers. She was 1 of 12 children.
After graduating from Logan High School, Helen met Thomas Harris at the White City Ball Room and the two were later married in 1937. Together they had two boys who were the love of their lives, Larry and Jack. She was a talented seamstress, and loved making beautiful blankets and afghans. She worked at Utah Tayloring Mills to put her boys through school. She loved camping with Tom and the boys especially at Tony Grove Lake, where she spent her summers tending sheep with her father as a child.
After she and Tom divorced, she married Weldon Peterson on October 9, 1966. On June 17,1970 they were sealed in the Logan LDS Temple. Living with Weldon for 38 years in St. Charles, Idaho on his cattle ranch, she enjoyed helping with the cattle and taking care of Weldon. She looked forward to holidays and birthdays with all her family, as they would come and visit their grandmother in Bear Lake. Helen later returned to Kaysville after Weldon's death to be closer to her boys.
Her biggest joy in life was her family. She was proud of her five generations, same as her mother. She was an active member of the LDS Church and served in many callings. She was also a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers.
She is survived by her two sons; Jack (Celia) Harris and Larry (Claire) Harris, both of Kaysville, Utah and step son Wayne (Lora) Peterson of Poulsbo, Washington and step son in law DeLoy (Donna) Passey of Paris, Idaho, 16 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren and 6 great, great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, brothers and sisters and step daughter, Debra Passey.
A graveside service was held Thursday, February 10,2011 at 1:00pm in St. Charles, Idaho. Friends may visit family Wednesday, February 9th from 6 to 8 pm at Lindquist's Layton Mortuary.
