Chico Daily Record, Wednesday December 21, 1904, pg 1 col 2: Death Summons Euwing Montgomery. Euwing Montgomery died Monday afternoon at the residence of his sister, Mrs. T.B. Cooper, on Third street, after a lingering illness. Mr. Montgomery had worked for a number of years in the asbestos industry and contracted an ailment which totally puzzled the physicians. Believing that he might get relief through a change in climate, he came to Chico last September, but this climate failed to return him to his lost health.
Deceased was a native of St. Joseph, Mo., aged 50 years. He came to California about twenty-five years ago. For about twenty years he had been a member of the Presbyterian church, in which he was an active worker. He was never married. Four sisters and four brothers, all of whom, exception Mrs. Cooper, reside in San Francisco, survive him.
The funeral will take place this afternoon at 2 o’clock from the Presbyterian church.

The funeral of the late Euwing [sic] Montgomery took place yesterday from the mortuary chapel of Fetters & Williams, the service being conducted by Rev. W.G. White of the Presbyterian church, and interment was had in the Chico cemetery.
