Frances E. Ludwig, 93, of 604 Oak St., Akron, formerly of New Holland, died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2011, at Maple Farm Nursing Center in Akron. Born in Gap, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Minnie (Pauling) Summers. Her husband, Henry M. Ludwig, died Oct. 1979. Frances worked from 1960-1982 as a cook at Garden Spot High School. She was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church and enjoyed quilting, cooking, and reading. Surviving is a daughter, Elaine Poleski of New Holland; a son, Dale, married to Shirley (Nolt) Ludwig of Stone Harbor, NJ; four grandchildren, Lori, Lana, Amy, and Steve; four great grandchildren, Joel, Justin, Kirstie, and Natalie; two sisters, Thelma Wanner of Narvon, and Evelyn, married to Chester Eby of Kinzers; and a brother, Robert, married to Charlotte Summers of Narvon. Preceding her in death is a great granddaughter, Jenna Means; seven brothers, George, John, Edward, Lester, Paul, Allen, and Richard; and four sisters, Kathryn Wetzler, Hazel Mast, Ethel Maitland, and Geraldine Spotts. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 9 at 11 am at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, 753 Mt. Zion Road, Narvon, PA 17555. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery. Viewing will be held at the Church on Wednesday from 10-11 am. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Mt.
