DeLance W. Squire passed away February 2, 2011. DeLance was born October 25, 1919, the oldest of ten children born to Loren D. Squire and Amelia Sanders of LaVerkin, Utah.

He served a mission to the Eastern States and upon arriving home married Dorothy Hirschi, on December 23, 1942, in the St. George Temple. They were able to be together while he served in the Army Air Corps for the next three years. They moved to Provo after the war where DeLance finished school at BYU. They made their home in Orem in 1948.

Professionally, DeLance worked for over 40 years as a Certified Public Accountant. He worked with a number of firms before founding the CPA firm of Squire & Squire. He very much enjoyed the people he worked with and the clients they served. He spent the last 10 years of his career as the Executive Director of the Community Economic Development of Orem.

DeLance enjoyed serving in his Church, community and family. He was the Mayor of Orem from 1982 through 1985. In addition he has been Chairman of the Board of Directors of Orem Community Hospital and Timpanogos Regional Hospital and as a board member of the Mountain View Hospital in Payson. He was Chairman of the Board of Trustees of UVSC for two years. He was awarded an Honorary Doctorate degree from UVSC. He received the Arthur V. Watkins Outstanding Citizen Award and also received the ‘Outstanding Citizen' award from the Utah State Chamber of Commerce.

He considered his greatest achievement to be his marriage to Dorothy and their children who call him the ‘greatest dad' in the world. He was the father of five children: Joe D. (Jan) Squire; Hirschi Tyler (deceased) and (Mary) Squire; David H. Squire (deceased); Suzette (Rob) Lundgren; and Sean (Pam) Squire. He and Dorothy also had 18 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 12, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. in the Hillcrest 4thWard Chapel, 440 East 800 South in Orem. Family and friends may call Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 East 800 North in Orem and on Saturday morning from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church prior to the funeral. Interment will be at the Orem City Cemetery.
