Today (Saturday) on receiving our home paper, you can imagine my shock when the first thing that caught my' eye was the sad news of the death of Peter Leyendecker, third son of Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Leyendecker. The Reaper has called the sweetest flower in the home garden. We can not realize that this noble boy is dead! What will the home be without this loved one? How my tears flow for the sorrow-stricken parents and brothers and sisters who will all through life miss his cheery presence and loving companionship. The mother, for whom his last act was a labor of love, how can she, and the father who idolized his boys, live without him? God, the Father, alone can prepare the tempest tossed souls for their burden. Few boy's were as true and noble as he was, his love for his parents had been so marked all his life. I have so often beard his mother say how he grieved when his father would be called from home on business, and how eager he was always for news of him, and wanted to know if he was well cared for, He could neither eat or sleep when away from either parent. His love was requited in every wish he expressed being granted, and they were the sharers of his every pain and joy. They were companions and confidants to him. I have so often envied that unbroken, happy home. But alas for human hopes--bright today and in a few short hours dashed to earth. Loved ones, let not your heart be troubled, for death is not to be eternal. Jesus is our resurrection, and he will take your treasure borne, to dwell forever with the angels. As Peter lived in this life, so patiently will he wait beside the portals for mamma and papa, and his query of each shining angel will be: "Are my loved ones coming soon?" Our heartfelt and sincere sympathy goes out to the bereaved family in their loss. [Interment in the Leyendecker-Zimmerscheidt Cemetery]
