Betty Miller was born October 28, 1921 to Ethel (Andrews) and Charles B. Miller in Huron, SD. She graduated from Huron High School in 1939 and attended Northwest College of Commerce in Huron, SD.
She married Bruce B. Ellis on July 17, 1942 at Huron, SD. In 1942, the couple lived in St. Paul, MN while Bruce was in the U.S. Air Force where she worked as a bookkeeper and stenographer for Standard Oil Company. They returned to Huron, SD in 1943 where she worked for Standard Oil until 1945. Bruce and Betty opened Huron Radio & TV in 1952. She helped to run this business until they sold it in 1958. Betty then worked for Armour & Company from 1960-1962. Bruce began working for the Federal Aviation Agency in 1958 and was transferred to Grand Forks, ND in 1963. She worked for the Grand Forks Air Force Base from 1963-1965, Boeing from 1967-1968 and the Soil Conservation Service from 1968-1970.
Betty's loves in life were her music and her grandchildren. She had a beautiful voice and sang in the American Legion Auxiliary Chorus, Sweet Adelines and her church choir for many years. When she married her childhood sweetheart, Bruce, she gave up her chance of becoming a concert pianist.
After the flood of 1997, her best friend, Bailey, a German shepherd mix moved in with her. They took care of each other until Bailey's death in June 2003.
Betty is survived by her daughters, Janelle (Jim) Brough of Westminster, CO and Annette (Clarence) Volk of Grand Forks, ND, son-in-law, Robert Entrup, Denver, CO, 5 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Julie (Robert) Entrup, grandson, Tad Entrup, granddaughter, Jamie (Brough) Werner and brothers, Doug Miller, Harold Miller and Bob Miller.
Inurnment: Mount Olivet Cemetery, Denver,CO.
