Gerald J. Hartnett, 85, of Cedar Haven, and formerly of Poplar Terrace, passed away Thursday, February 3, 2011, at the nursing home. Born in Lebanon, on May 15, 1925, Gerald was the son of the late Charles F. and Rose E. (Stroh) Hartnett. Gerald was the sexton at St. Mary's Church and retired after 40 years of service. He was also a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus and he enjoyed playing the organ. He is survived by a sister, Mary Chrin of Lebanon; three nieces, Kathy Carnes, Ethel Estep, and Margaret Ann Hayden; two nephews, James Cramer and Dennis Chrin; seven great-nieces; five great-nephews; seven great-great-nieces; eight great-great-nephews; and one great-great-great-nephew. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Rita Harnett and Rose McCurdy; and two nephews, Donald and George Cramer. Funeral Mass Tuesday 11 a.m. from St. Mary's Church, 2 N. 8th St., Lebanon PA 17046. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. Viewing hours from 8 to 9 a.m. at Cedar Haven Nursing Home, 590 S. 5th Ave., Lebanon 17042, and from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.
