George Washington Hall was born to Civil War veteran James Robert Hall (1st Maine Cavalry, 1863-1865) and Dorcas Jenks. He met and married Effie Sweet, also of Atkinson, daughter of Ella Baxter, in 1894. George came to Mansfield, Massachusetts when he was a young man and established his real estate business. Eventually he opened a Boston office, which was located at 60 State Street.

George was survived by his widow, the former Effie B. Sweet; daughters, Mrs. Bernice Kuberek, Mrs. Helen B. Hosmer, Mrs Marjorie I. Tozier and Miss Beulah D. Hall, all of Medford and two sons, Clifton E. Hall of Dorchester and Sumner F. Hall of Medford. A third son, George Linwood Hall was killed in an airplane crash in 1920. George Hall probably was descended from the Halls of Rehoboth, Massachusetts, pre-revolutionary settlers of New England, and his wife, Effie Sweet, from the Bragdons of York, Maine. George died of diabetic gangrene.
