Vera's Obituary:

Vera Esther Peterson, 92, of Greeley, CO, passed away Tuesday, October 17, 2006 at Bridge Assisted Living at Life Care.

Visitation will be 2:00 to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, October 22, 2006 at Allnutt Funeral Service/Macy Chapel. A funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 23, 2006 at First United Methodist Church, Greeley. Intermet will be at Linn Grove Cemetery.

Vera was born on January 7, 1914 in Denver, CO to John and Bessie (Owens) Walker. At the age of 6 she moved to Ft. Lupton where she grew up and graduated from high school. She then attended school at Colorado State College, now UNC, for two years, starting her teaching career. She taught at Carr, CO and then went to Kuner. There, she met Harold "Pat" Peterson, and they were married June 10, 1937. They lived on a ranch northeast of Kuner. Vera then became a housewife and mother to 7 children. As the kids got older, she went back to teaching at Kuner.

In 1966, her husband Pat passed away. She went back to UNC and got her bachelors degree and continued teaching at Valley View, Gill, and then Platte Valley until she retired in 1972 and substituted until 1980. She dearly loved teaching and was a very dedicated teacher.

Vera was a member of the United Methodist Church, Rebekkahs, Royal Neighbors of America, Retired Teachers Assoc and Colorado Cowbells Assoc. She moved to Kersey in 1988 and in 2004 moved to the Bridge Assisted Living Center. She was overjoyed to be able to go to the rodeos and county fairs to watch her children and grandchildren compete.

She was quite a seamstress, making clothes for her girls and boys as they grew up. She loved gardening, especially flowers. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were a big part of her life. She was an excellent cook and loved having family get togethers. She enjoyed her companion, Sissy cat and then had Sally and Spoke. She enjoyed her grand dog, Charlie, who visited her regularly and was a big part of her life.

Vera is survived by her daughter, Betty Hatfield of Kersey; sons, Larry Peterson and wife, Kitty, of Pierce, CO, Harold "Pink" Peterson of Las Vegas, NV, Richard Peterson and wife, Jane, of Arthur, NE and Bill Peterson and Marsha Eubanks of Burnett, TX; son-in-law, Henry Karre of Greeley; twelve grandchildren; and twenty great grandchildren
