Canton-Thelma M. Rowe, 74, of 400 Park Court, died at 10:10 am Friday, February 4, 2011, at the OSF St. Francis Hospital in Peoria.
She was born September 22, 1936, in Makanda, IL, to Archie and Dorettia O'Daniell Hartline.
Thelma married Edward E. Rowe on December 17, 1954 in Carbondale, IL. He Survives.
Also surviving are four children, Kathy (Daniel) King, Diana Rowe, Phyllis Hadsall and Eugene E. (Brenda) Rowe all of Canton. Two brothers Lester (Pat) Hartline of Cobden, IL, Orville (Sue) Hartline of Canton, nine grandchildren, Amber Petty, Bart King, Kyle Hilton, Amy Pringle, Tabitha shore, Patricia Reneau, Brandon Myers, Kaley Rowe, Sarah Rowe and 18 great grandchildren also survive.
Her parents, one brother, Junior Hartline, three sisters Gladys Linton, Roseline Lingle, and Alena Hartline preceded her in death.
She worked as a Nurses Aid at the Graham Hospital in Canton. Thelma was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Canton and helped with the Wednesday kids aftercare program. She enjoyed lunch with her many friends after church on Sundays.
Thelma volunteered for the Meals on Wheels program, Lunch with friends, the American Red Cross, and Santa Jo's Workshop. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and enjoyed spending time with her friends at the park district and YWCA. Ed and her enjoyed trips to the gambling boat, playing bingo and cards.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 9, 2011, at 11:00 am at the Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton with the Rev. Roger Russell officiating. Visitation will be held two hours prior. Burial will be held at the White Chapel Memory Gardens in Canton
