Bobby Carroll "B.C." Beam, age 79 of Denver, NC, formerly of Lincolnton, NC passed away on February 2, 2011.

He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Mr. Beam was born May 21, 1931 in Lincolnton to the late Alvin Kemp Beam and Ira Inez Hoyle.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Beam was preceded in death by his brothers, Rayford Beam and Jack Beam and a sister, Merlene Carpenter.

Mr. Beam retired from Bell South after 40 years of dedicated service. During his employment, he served for 25 years as President of the local chapter of the Communication Workers of America.

Mr. Beam is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Sadie Newton Beam; his three daughters, Deborah Shelley & husband Adrian of Houston, Texas; Sandra Braswell & husband Joe of Little River, SC; and Karen Helms & husband Kenny of Denver, NC. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Marty Abernathy & wife Amy of Alexis, NC; Lauren Shelley of Houston, Texas; Ade Shelley of Austin, Texas; Angela Hoyle & husband Wes of Lincolnton, NC; Dustin Abernathy of Stanley, NC; and three great-grandchildren, Miller & EmmaLeigh Hoyle and Brody Abernathy.

Services will be held Friday at 3:00 pm at Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jeff Johnsen officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:45 pm prior to the service. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
