CHERRYVILLE -- Mr. Beam, age 80, of 977 Bess Chapel Church Road, died Monday, July 12, 2004 at home. His funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Randi Godfrey officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Mr. Beam was born on March 14, 1924 in Lincoln County. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kemp and Ira Hoyle Beam, a son, Randy 'Buck' Beam, and a brother, Jack H. Beam. He retired after working 29 1/2 years as a mechanic with Carolina Freight Carriers. Mr. Beam was a WWII Navy Veteran and served in the Army Corps of Engineers during the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Jean C. Beam of the home; two sons, Ronald and Todd Beam of Cherryville, NC; one daughter, Shasta Steele of Cherryville, NC; one brother, Bobby Beam of Lincolnton, NC; one sister, W. Merlene Carpenter of Lincolnton; twelve grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Bess Chapel United Methodist Church, 2741 Hwy 274, Cherryville, NC 28021, or the charity of one's choice.
