Alfred Steele, of Shelburne, s. of Alfred & Almina (Call) Steele. m. June 12, 1829 in So. Halifax, Windham co., VT, Dianna Ware b. NY, the dau of Willard & Anna (Ware) Ware [cousins] Dianna was "of Colrain". On the 1870 census Alfred gives his occupation as an engineer in a paper mill. His real estate value is $1,500 & personal $300. Her line begins with her great grandfather, Michael Ware of Wrentham b. 1725, her grandfather Michael b. 1765, rem. to Buckland before 1790.

On June 18, 1880 they are residing in Weathersfield, Windsor, VT: Alfred is 43, a farmer, b Mass; Diana is 44, b NY; and Alma N is recorded as Anna 15 b Mass.

Diana's siblings were: Darwin F.; Samuel, m. Nov. 2 1855 in So. Halifax, Vt., Jane Elizabeth Payne of Conway; Sophronia; Lucy F., m. Joseph E. Frost, d. Aug 2, 1900, Æ 58 yrs.; George E. d. Dec. 8, 1858 Æ 21 yrs; Julia Willard, d. Apr. 24, 1830 Æ 19mos.
