K. LaVerne Sage, 94, Macon, MO, died, Sunday, May 30, 2010, at the Samaritan Hospital in Macon.
She was born December 5, 1915, near Bethel, MO, the daughter of Carson Earl and Mary Hazel (Crabtree) Swisher. She married Eldred E. Sage on July 31, 1938, in Bethel. Mrs. Sage was a school teacher and homemaker. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Independence, the Order of the Eastern Star for over 65 years, the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Anti-Rust Club. LaVerne was an avid bridge player and loved her family.
Survivors include three sons, Larry Eldred Sage and wife Marilyn, Peculiar, David Earl Sage and wife Nylene, Independence, and Ronald Gene Sage and wife Karen, Sturgeon; six grandchildren, Kelly, Chase, Scott Sage, Kimberly Benson, Elizabeth Duncan, Tina Umstattd and Rick Sage; sixteen great-grandchildren; one sister, Barbara Stewart of Coralville, IA, one sister-in-law LaVonne Swisher, Bethel, and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Eldred on December 7, 1994, one granddaughter, Lisa Brownfield, three brothers, Glen, Laurel and Roger, and one sister, Lois Smith.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 4, 2010, at the Hutton & McElwain Funeral Home in Macon. Burial will be in the Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Macon. Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m., Friday afternoon, at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to the masonic Home of Missouri.
