John Charles, often called "JC" by his sisters or "Uncle Bud" by his nieces and nephews, was the only son of William Henry and Hettie Sue Freeman Burgin. He served in the United States Army. He married Donna Flynn, and their marriage produced no children.
His nieces have fond memories of attending Easter sunrise services and hiking and picnicking at Chimney Rock with their Uncle Bud and Aunt Donna. He was a well respected member of the Chimney Rock community and was a beloved son, husband, brother, and uncle.
