Edward A. Taylor, M.D., of Fremont, Ind., was born in Columbiana county, Ohio, Jan. 8, 1849, a son of Dr. James B. and Sarah P. Taylor.

He pursued literary studies in the schools of Newville and afterward attended the Fort Wayne college. He commenced the study of medicine with his father when nineteen years of age, and in March, 1876, graduated from the Iowa Medical college, of Keokuk. He practiced with his father for a time and then located in York Center, Steuben county, Ind., where he practiced his profession for twenty five years, during which time he greatly endeared himself to the people within a radius of forty miles; partly because of his willingness to go to the bedside of a suffering one at any hour of the day or night, regardless of his own need of rest or refreshment, and partly because of his great skill as a practitioner.

In 1901, the doctor located in Fremont, where he resided until his death, Feb. 28, 1903, at the age of 54. He was united in marriage, Sept. 22, 1878, with Miss Allie Hathaway, who departed this life, Oct. 5, 1895. On Nov. 8, 1897, the doctor was again married, this time to Jessie Hathaway. To this union were born two children, a daughter, who died in infancy, and a son, Edward Arlo.

The doctor leaves a wife, an infant son, two sisters, a brother and other relatives, beside many friends, to mourn the loss of one who has been near and dear to them.

The funeral was held Tuesday, March 3,1903. Services were held at his residence at 10 o'clock, conducted by Rev. F. A. Reichelderfer, Rev. Dyer of the Congregational church offering prayer. The final services were held in the M. E. church at York, of which the Doctor was a member. Singers from Fremont, consisting of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Watters, Mrs. Maud Brown, Mrs. F. A. Reichelderfer, A. A. Brown, Dr. B. F. Wolfe and Mrs. W. B. Frost, organist, furnished the music. Rev. F. A. Reichelderfer had charge of the service and Rev. W. B. Frost preached the sermon.
