Esther L. Cotterman, 88, of Cherry Street, Meadville, died Thursday, Jan. 22, 2009, at Meadville Medical Center.

Born Nov. 1, 1920, in Meadville, she was a daughter of William Stavey and Blanche Hanes Stavey Mason. She married Ralph E. Albaugh; he preceded her in death in 1958. She then married Lawrence J. Cotterman on May 19, 1991; he preceded her in death in November 1993.

She was a 1939 graduate of Meadville High School.

She was a crossing guard, worked at Super Duper in the deli, worked in the snack shop at City Hospital, cooked for The Cottage restaurant, worked at Gabby Ave. News, Oneida, and a was life-long homemaker.

She was of the Lutheran faith.

Esther was a devoted mother, grandmother and homemaker. She was a wonderful cook, and an avid bingo player at Sertoma Club and Community Center. She liked watching professional baseball games and watching her grandkids play baseball.

Survivors include a daughter, Joyce E. Myers of Meadville; three stepdaughters, Treva Higby and her husband, Tom, of Cochranton, Carolyn Harvey and her husband, Andrew, of Arizona, and Kathy Cotterman of Cochranton; three sons, Larry J. Albaugh and his wife, Jeanne, of Meadville, David E. Albaugh and his wife, Diane, of Meadville, and Bruce R. Albaugh and his wife, Gale, of Meadville; three grandchildren, Heather R. Myers, Kayla Longo and her husband, Robert, and Cody Albaugh, all of Meadville; four stepgrandchildren, Louie Severo, David Severo and his wife, Pam, John Severo, and Daniel Severo and his wife, Lisa; two sisters, Betty Jane Kampher of Ohio and Doris Peters of Cambridge Springs; a brother, Jack Newell of Arizona; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and several great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; a son-in-law, Robert Myers; and two brothers, George Richard Stavey and William Stavey.

Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Interment will be in Greendale Cemetery.
