Dolores O. Sorenson, age 92, of Eau Claire died on Saturday, January 29, 2011, at Dove Healthcare-West surrounded by her family.
Dolores was born on March 27, 1918, to the late August and Laura (Ausman) Bleske in Eau Claire. On February 8, 1934, she married Lloyd Sorenson. They continued the tradition of farming passed down from her parents. The farm is still family-owned and operated today. Dolores was a lifelong resident of the Town of Union. She was the best cook ever and always cooked enough for anyone that happened by. Pies were her specialty: her jams and jellies were second to none. Dolores loved people and had a soft spot for children. She raised dozens of foster children over the decades. She had a strong catholic faith and attended St. Joseph's Catholic Church her entire life. Dolores will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her daughters, Carolyn Horstman, Laura "Tootie" Sorenson, Mary Worthen, and Jennie Sorenson; sons, Bernard "Bub" and Lloyd, Jr. "Smokie" Sorenson; 20 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; and many other relatives.
Preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd in 1971; son, Rodney; grandchildren, Richard and Ronald Horstman; brothers, John, Albert, Paul, Bernie; sisters, Caroline and Madonna; and son-in-law, Richard "Dick" Horstman.
A Memorial Mass will be held 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 3, 2011, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Elk Mound with the Reverend N. Victor Inbaraj officiating.
Family will receive friends one hour prior to the mass at church.
Interment will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Eau Claire.
Evergreen Funeral Home and Crematory is serving the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
