Anthony Hoffman, well known in Preston, passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Harry Simpson at Kitchener at three o'clock Sunday morning after an illness of sometime. He was 78 years of age. For many years the late Mr. Hoffman was in business for himself as a blacksmith at Bridgeport and Floradale and later for 28 years he was blacksmith at the Doon Twines Limited in Kitchener. He resided in Doon for a time. In politics he was a staunch Conservative and in religion a Lutheran. The late Mr. Hoffman was born on May 14, 1854. Surviving are his wife, four sons and three daughters. The sons are William, Clayton, Henry, all of Preston and Sylvester of Kitchener. The daughters are Mrs. Ed Standenmeir of Pipestone Michigan, Mrs. Lewis Bartholomew, of Blair, and Mrs. Harry Simpson of Kitchener. One son Edwin and one daughter Mrs. W. Knipfel are both decreased. One sister, Mrs. J. Musselman also survives. There are 27 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. The funeral will he held Tuesday afternoon at 2: 30 o'clock from the residence of Mr. Clayton Hoffman, 328 Laurel street, Preston, where services will be held to Preston cemetery for Interment.
