Christ John Backus, son of Nicholas and Anna Jenniges Backus, was born November 19, 1902 at Wanda, Minnesota.
On February 23, 1927 he was united in marriage to Evelyn Spensley by Father Hiltner at St. Augustine's Catholic Church, Jeffers, Minnesota. To this union five children were born. They spend their entire married life in the Jeffers - Westbrook area.
Christ passed away at the Westbrook Hospital at the age of 83 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
Survivors include his five children, Nick, Fon Du Lac, Wisconsin, Clarence, Sumatra, Indonesia, Mrs. Floyd (Rita) Bruning, Westbrook, MN, Mrs. Irving (Leola) Powell , Columbia Heights, MN, Mrs. John F. (Trudy) Brown of Duluth, MN, fifteen grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild, one sister, Veronica Vandermoon, Windom, MN, one brother, Aloysius Backus, Jeffers, and a host of nieces and nephnews.
