A funeral mass for Margaret Vandermoon was held Tuesday at the St. Augustine's Catholic Church in Jeffers with Father Frank Galles officiating.
Margaret Gertrude Backes was born June 8, 1899 in Wanda, the daughter of Nicholas and Anna Jenniges Backes. Her early years were lived in Wanda and she attended school there. On Nov. 16, 1926 she married Earl Henry Vandermoon at Windom. They made their home in Jeffers and became the parents of four sons and five daughters. Mrs. Vandermoon was a member of St. Augustine's Catholic Church, its Guild and the American Legion Auxiliary. Following the death of Mr. Vandermoon in 1965 she continued to make her home in Jeffers. In September of 1978 she moved to the Riverview apartments in Windom. On Sunday she apparently suffered a heart attack at her apartment and passed away there. She was 80 years old.
