GEORGE H. ROETHEL

George H. Roethel, 86, a former Town of Meeme resident, died Sunday morning at Rocky Knoll Health Care Facility, where he had been a resident for the past 3-1/2 years .
He was born Dec. 17, 1896, in the Town of Meeme, a son of the late Henry and Elisa Schultz Roethel. He attended Mineral Springs school.
On Feb. 1, 1919, he married Lilly Zill at St. John and St. Peter Lutheran Church, Cleveland. The couple farmed in the Town of Meeme until retiring in 1961. She died in 1965.
He was a member of St. John Untied Church of Christ, Town of Herman, a former board member of the Cleveland Co-op, and charter member of Lake to Lake Dairy.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Levern (Marcella) Busse, of Sheboygan; a son, Wallace, Town of Meeme; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Hertha Greunewald, of Howards Grove, and Mrs. Hildegard Biskobing, of Sheboygan; and three brothers, Hugo, of Oostburg, Reinhold, if Kiel, and Arvin, of Sheboygan. He was preceded in death by a son, two brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. John UCC, Town of Herman. The Rev. Dean Roy Miller, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may call at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home, Kiel, after 4 p.m. Tuesday, and from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, and at the church from noon until the time of services.
A memorial fund has been established in Mr. Roethel’s name.
