Catherine Garber was born 15 Mar 1771 at Beaver Dam, MD, 8th of 10 children of John (H) Garber & Barbara Miller. She married John Flory 26 Apr 1790 at Flat Rock, Shenandoah Co, VA, and they moved shortly thereafter to Cook's Creek to start [along with her brother Daniel Garber] the first Church of the Brethren community in Rockingham Co. Catherine & John had 10 children, and were the progenitors of the Florys of Rockingham Co. She died 18 Sep 1835 in Pleasant Valley, and is buried in Early's Cemetery.
