Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth McGuire, daughter
of Isaac and Jane Lamb, was born near
Bedford, Indiana, Sept. 6, 1838.
She departed this life at her home in
London Mills Apr 14,1922, age eighty-
three years, 7 months and eight days.
At the age of two her parents moved to
Illinois making their new home about
one and one-half miles west of Fairview.
She was married July 25, 1856 to James
McGuire, who died less than two years
later.
There were to bless their home: one son,
George Newton McGuire, who died when
about eighteen years of age. She came to
London Mills during the year 1902 and has
since made her home here. Mrs. McGuire
joined the Christian Church of this place
Sept.15, 1903. She was a consistent
Christian, a faithful wife, a devoted mother,
a loving sister and loyal friend. The only
immediate relatives are two sisters and
two brothers namely: Mrs. Mary Ellen Smith,
London Mills; Mrs. Emma J. Woodhouse,
Stevenson, Calif.; Joseph Lamb, Skraig,
Washington; James Lamb, Woodland [should
be Goodland], Kans.; and these with several
other relatives and a host of friends are
left to morning her death. The funeral
services were held in the Christian church
Monday mornng at 10:30 o'clock, Rev. K.C.
Veatress of Monmonth officiating. The songs
service was in charge of Mrs. Earl Smith,
Mrs. Otto Brashear, Mrs. Guy Bates, and
Mrs. Arthur Sampson with Miss Jennie
Sampson at the piano. The songs were
"Gathering Home." "It is Well With My
Soul" and "Asleep in Jesus."

The casket bearers were; Ernest Baker,
Otto Johnson, Charles Cook, George Swigart,
Bert Benson and Jesse Elliot. The was
floral offerings were very beautiful. She
was laid to rest in Foster cemetery near
Fairview.

Those from out of town to attend the
funeral of Mrs. McGuire were: Mrs. Anna
Pitman, Joplin, Mo,; Ray Smith, Peoria;
Mrs. Floyd Swarts, Knoxville; Misses
Jennie and Flo Lamb, Abingdon; Mr. and
Mrs. Everette Hall and baby and Miss
Bemice McElroy of Middle Grove; Mr. and
Mrs. Jake Vollmer near Fairview.
