Mrs. Almeda Carpenter Garrett, a well known resident of Calhoun County, June 11, 1924 following a stroke of paralysis. She she was 82 years, 6 months and 23 days old. She was born in Garrad County, Kentucky and came to Illinois when 13 years old with her parents and settled near Carrolton. She was married to Henry Garrett of Philadelphia who died January 7, 1911.
To them born seven children, five of whom are living. The living children are William of California, Henry of Norton, Mo., Silas of Moizer, Mrs D. A. Bushnell, of Eldred and Mrs. Lizzie Day of Moizer, Illinois. She leaves 11 grandchildren and 23 great-grand children. Her funeral took place from the Baptist Church in Eldred with services by Rev. J.A. Carwile in the presence of a large congregation of her friends. She was a devoted Christian.
