Though Frightfully Burned the Little Fellow Lingered for Two Days His Death Occurring at His Decatur Home Yesterday Afternoon

Douglas Laird, the little 2-year old son of Mr. and Mrs. J Parry Laird of Decatur, died Sunday morning, as the result of frightful burns received while playing with a bonfire Friday morning. The child was badly burned on the body and face, one eye being almost destroyed from the flames, but he remained conscious until Saturday night up to which time it was thought he would recover.

Douglas was playing...............with his 3 year old brother, Flake, and the two lighted a .... leaves and t... some way the ..... ignited. Mrs. Laird heard ... screams of the children and when she returned, the said attempting to extinguish the flames by herself ... left
with a .....Mrs. Laird .....them ......... wrapping...around
the unfortunate little one had been badly burned.

The funeral will be at 3 o'clock this afternoon and interment will be at the Decatur Cemetery. The pallbearers will be ........Ansley and John Gilmore and an honorary
escort will be composed of the child's little friends, Warren Hardeman, John Brown, Theodore Ramspeck, Cland
Hamilton, Mathew xxxxxxxxx and Angus tin Sams.
