Sudden Death of Malcom Crofoot

Malcom Crofoot, a well known person in this city, died very suddenly at half-past one o'clock Wednesday morning, at the residence of Samuel Wilson, of congestion of the liver, after an illness of only two days. The deceased was a resident of Niles for over twenty five years keeping a hotel there for a portion of the time, and amassed a considerable property which he came near losing through the machinations of the "human spider," Day Eyer. The Tribune's expose of Eyer was the means of opening the way to a settlement with Eyer, by which Mr. Crofoot got back a portion of it. He has a sister living in Mishawaka, Mrs. Wm. Dawley, from whose residence he was buried Thursday at half-past 10 o'clock. He was 64 years old. Prof. L.G. Tong and Messrs. J.F. and M.H. Callaghan, who were present at the time of his death, say he died very peacefully.
