Marvin was born to Moses and Bertha Pearl Wilson on 17 Sept 1914. Oldest of 12 he quit school in the 8th grade to manage the family farm. During the Depression he worked for the Civilian Conservation Corps and was drafted into the Army during WWII. He was first stationed in Santa Monica where he met his first wife Marjorie Edith Melvin. They were married on 21 Dec 1942. He was shipped out and served in the Aleutian Islands and in India for over 3 years. Upon returning home their only child Marlene Joyce was born; this marriage ended in divorce. On June 17, 1955 he married Dorothy Jean Eddy and together they had a daughter Mary Linda. Dorothy had a daughter Kathleen Suzanne from her previous marriage.
Marvin worked for the Southern California Gas Company for many years. Shortly before retiring he was diagnosed with lung cancer and died on Pearl Harbor Day, 1979. He loved his family and was a kind and generous man. He was survived by his wife Dorothy, and his 3 daughters Marlene Lee (Bobby), Kathleen Standridge (Myles) and Mary Linda Starns (William) grandchildren Lori, David and Beth Lee, Tara, Myles, Amber and Adam Standridge and Samantha and Jennifer Starns.
