Maudie King Leininger died on Tues. March 26, 2013 at Kingsway Nursing Home in Schenectady. She was born in Ravenden, Arkansas, March 4, 1933. She was the daughter of the late Mose Price King and Bertha Pearl King. She grew up on a farm and was the 10th of 12 children, and the first to graduate from Williford High School. After high school she went to business school in Memphis, TN. While in Memphis, she met Albert Leininger, who was serving in the U.S. Navy. They married in 1951 and moved to Norfolk, VA, where he was stationed. Over the next 62 years they moved to Guilderland and raised their six children. Mrs. Leininger was employed at General Electric, she also worked at Leininger's Cider Mill for over 30 years. She also ran a sewing business from her home, while working at the Guilderland Central School District. She retired from the school district and pursued some of her favorite things in retirement, such as traveling, staying in contact with friends, spending time in the Adirondacks and going back to Arkansas to see her family there. Mrs. Leininger was a cancer survivor, and spent much time raising money for cancer research.
Mrs. Leininger is survived by her husband of 61 years, Albert of Schenectady, and their children, Douglas (Linda) of Saratoga, David (Mary) of Jacksonville, FL, Daniel (Judy) of Prattville, AL, Sandra Vetro (Paul), Dawn Freisatz (Glenn) and Brian of Schenectady. She also has 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; her brothers Willie King of Sugar Grove, IL and Luther King of Pocahontas, AR and sisters Pearly Hirsch of Ravenden, AR and Irene (Chester) Baird of Williford, AR. and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her brothers Marvin, Cecil, John, Jesse, Claudie, and sisters Thelma and Katherine.
