Mrs. Sykes, C-City, Dies

Colorado City, September 14, (RNS)~~
Mrs. Memphis Porter Sykes, 72, died in Root Memorail Hospital Saturday at 10:05 a.m. after an illness of four days.

She was born March 10, 1883 in Memphis, Tennessee, but had lived in Colorado City since 1907. She was a member of the First Christian Church and the Eastern Star.

Mrs. Sykes married W.W. Porter in Waco in 1902, and he died in 1946. She married Dan T. Sykes in August, 1950. Sykes died in 1952.

Funeral will be held at the First Christian Church Monday at 2:30 p.m., with the Rev. Don McCoy, pastor officiating. Burial is to be in the Colorado City Cementery under the direction of Kiker and Son Funeral Home.

Survivors include seven sons, Clifford, Mike, Earl, Regan and A. Allen Porter all of Houston, Worth W. Porter, Jr. of Midland and Bryan B. Porter of Colorado City; two daughters, Mrs. P. H. Dunham of Tokyo, Japan and Mrs. Hilton H. Henslee of Castle Air Force Base, California; two brothers, Walter Bryan of Ponca City, Oklahoma and Terry Bryan of Madisonville, Texas; two sisters, Mrs. Dee Carver of Texas City and Mrs. Annie Needham of Waco; fifteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
