Billie Adams, age 87, of Kerrville, Texas, died on Friday, January 7, 2011, at a Kerrville nursing center. Billie was born on December 29, 1923, in Fairy, Texas, to David Adams and Addie Hope Wren Adams.

On November 16, 1942, Billie married Dortha Ray Land in Hamilton, Texas. Billie was a Veteran of the United States Army and was discharged in Camp Chaffee, Arkansas on October 6, 1945.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church. Billie worked to be a master carpenter and built a lot of custom homes in Kerrville. He loved to fish and hunt. Billie was a wonderful father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was very supportive of his grandchildren.

Survivors, daughter, Carol Van Hoozer of Kerrville; sons, Dwayne Adams and wife Ann of Kerrville and James Adams and wife Sandra of Abilene; sister, Nadine Patterson of Burleson; grandchildren, Leslie Van Hoozer, Nancy Gawryszewski, Debbie Mann and husband Michael, Tracie Reeh and husband Joey, Lori Griffin and husband Grant, Lisa Ricketts and husband Ron, Brenda Johnson and husband Larry, and David Adams and wife Ashley; 16 great-grandchildren/ numerous nieces and nephews. Billie was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Dortha on June 13, 1998, four sisters and five brothers.

The family wish to give special thanks to Plaza on the River and Peterson Hospice for their care of Billie.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., on Sunday, January 9, 2011, at Grimes Funeral Chapels.

Funeral services, 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 10, 2011, at Grimes Funeral Chapels, with Sam Ligon, officiating. Interment to follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery.

Memorial remembrances may be made to the charity of one's choice.
