Absalom Pratt was the son of Hopkins Pratt and Sarah Dickerson. He was born in Bibb County , Alabama on September 11, 1839. On September 9, 1861 Absalom was enlisted in the Confederate Army by his first cousin, Captain Richard Hopkins Pratt. Absalom was assigned to Company D 20th. Alabama Infantry. This unit was also known as the Bibb Rangers. Absalom attained the rank of 2nd. Sergeant. On August 6, 1863 he was married in Bibb County , Alabama to Sarah Ann Cruise, daughter of Eli Patterson Cruise and Elizabeth Lightsey. Soon after his marriage, Absalom died in 1864 in Resaca, Georgia. Absalom and Sarah had no children. After Absalom's death Sarah Ann Pratt married Harrison H Splawn in Bibb County, Alabama on February 12, 1868.
