Services for Mrs. Laura Murphey, 75, of Athens are set for 2 p.m. Saturday in the United Methodist Church in Athens with Dr. Stanley Carter and Dr.
James Allen Chapman officiating. Burial will be in Athens City Cemetery under direction of Hassell-Foster Funeral Home of Athens. Mrs. Murphey died Thursday night in a Dallas hospital after a lengthy illness. A native of the New York Community near Athens, she had lived in Henderson County most of her life. She was a deputy in the county clerk's office in Athens for 40 years before retiring in 1967. Survivors include one daughter; one brother, Jim Bradshaw of Trinidad; four sisters, Mrs. Mary Johnson, Mrs. Ray Bassett and Mrs. W. E. Henry, all of Athens, and Mrs. Jack Zachary of Longview; and one grandchild.
