Anne Kephart of Macksville, passed away at Hearthstone Rest Home at St John, Kansas , Saturday morning August 26th. (1972) She would have been 77 years old October 5th.
Anna was the youngest daughter of Henry Speaker Kephart and Nancy Long Kephart who were early settlers of the St John and Macksville area. The Kepharts resided south of Dillwyn.
Anna's parents passed away when she was a small child. She then lived with community friends until adulthood at which time she became independent, self-sufficient, and self-supporting.
"Annie" as she was affectionately called was known for her genuine kindliness and appreciation. Her consistent comment was "Macksville is so good to me". All her adult life she was a devoted, dedicated individual to Macksville and its people.
She served this community in services to the Grace Methodist Church, and Masonic Hall as their custodian and the daily delivery of the Hutchinson News in spite of her handicap of lameness.
In her early years, Anna was a member of the Neeland's church south of Dillwyn. In 1935, she transferred her membership to the Grace Methodist Church, Macksville, where she remained a devoted member.
She leaves to mourn her passing, several nieces, nephews, and cousins and her many Macksville friends.
