John James Eric Johnston, 84 of Barnard, Missouri died on Monday, January 17, 2011, at St Francis Hospital in Maryville, Missouri.
He was born August 23, 1926 in Kissimmee, Florida, the son of the late Herbert Marmiduke and Amelia Jane Bird Johnston. He was the husband of Donna Duke Johnston.
He was a 1946 graduate of the University of Florida. John also was a United State Navy Veteran serving his country from 1944-1945. He worked in civil service and was employed by Social Security Administration.
He was united in marriage to Donna Lou Duke on September 8, 1988 in Tucson, AZ.
He was a member of the Barnard Christian Church and the O'Howell Strader American Legion Post 102, both of Barnard.
Preceding him in death were siblings; Cecil, Blake, Harry, and Ida Johnston, Helen Luippold, and one grandson Jeremiah Jewett.
Surviving include: his wife Donna of the home, Barnard; Children, Janna (Terry) Colton, Sierra Vista, AZ, Jaralyn Johnston and JoDee Johnston, both of Tucson, AZ, Marty (Charlie) LaMarche, Louisiana, MO, Chris (Joyce) Jewett, Maryville, MO and Dianna Jewett, Barnard, MO; and three grandchildren Jory Jewett and Anthony and Meghan LaMarche.
Mr. Johnston has been cremated. A memorial service will be held at a later date at the Barnard Christian Church. Interment will be in the American Legion Cemetery, Barnard, MO.
