Abigail had been blind for 15 years. Her memory remained strong until closer to her death. She settled with her husband, Jonathan who was born 1679 (Scotland) in East Granville,Ma about 1741.
Jonathan was a Deacon in the Congregational Church. He burned to death when their home caught fire in Oct 1767.
Together Jonathan and Abigail had 14 children, 7 lived to a very old age. Her seven children all had families.
In 1790, her 100th birthday, a meeting was called of her family. A sermon was given and her family enumerated. In 1790 her had 110 grandchildren, over 300 great-grandchildren and over 40 family members of the 5th generation. She had 450 LIVING descendants.
A new house was erected to replace the family home that claimed her husband on the same plot. Abigail lived in this home and in 1859 two of her grandchildren lived their "golden years" like their grandmother in the same home.

In 1790 he left the Congregational Church and started a Baptist Church in his home, which later became the first Baptist Church in Granville.

His brother, Stephen, who was several years younger than Aaron, had married Deborah Rose, the daughter of Justus and Deborah. Thus Aaron and his second wife were, by marriage, at one the uncle and aunt, the step-father and mother, and the brother and sister-in-law of Stephen and his wife.

A new house was erected to replace the family home that claimed her husband on the same plot. Abigail lived in this home and in 1859 two of her grandchildren lived their "golden years" like their grandmother in the same home.

2 DAVID ROSE

David was the one who started the family migration from to Bedford, MA (Granville) David Rose left Durham and secured 100 acres in Granville, built a cabin, started clearing land, and moved his family to Granville. He then purchased 1500 acres more in 1741. (26 families left Durham for Granville) David was a deacon, a tithingman, and served the town in many ways. In 1790 he left the Congregational Church and started a Baptist Church in his home, which later became the first Baptist Church in Granville.

The book, Spelman Genealogy, observes: the marriage of Aaron Spelman caused some odd relationships. His first wife was Elizabeth Rose, sister to Justice Rose. At the death of Elizabeth, he married the widow of Justus, Deborah Barlow. His brother, Stephen, who was several years younger than Aaron, had married Deborah Rose, the daughter of Justus and Deborah. Thus Aaron and his second wife were, by marriage, at one the uncle and aunt, the step-father and mother, and the brother and sister-in-law of Stephen and his wife.
