Ms. Dorothy Thorne Bennett, age 92, died early Sunday Morning (01/23/2011) at her residence in Brunswick, GA following a short illness.
She was born in Pierce Co. to the late Grover Cleveland and Vera Russ Thorne. She was also preceded in death by her husband Woodrow Wilson Bennett and 5 brothers and 1 sister. Mrs. Bennett was a long-time member of Offerman Baptist Church and a member of the Eastern Star.
She is survived by 3 sons Neil Bennett wife Bunny and Douglas W. Bennett wife Sandy both of Woodstock GA., and Stevie Bennett of Brunswick GA., 5 Daughters Sister Hill Husband Victor of LaFayette , Louisiana, Becky Annis Husband Alfred, Montine Cheeks Husband Danny, Linda Paladina Husband Jim, and Kathy Calhoun Husband Lamar all of Brunswick GA., 2 Sisters Ann Bennett Husband Travis of N.C., Sue Williamson of Patterson, and1 Brother Ronnie Thorne of Warner Robins.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday 11:00 a.m. at Offerman Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Offerman Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
