MRS. JOHN VETH'S LAST RITES
HELD AT CHURCH IN LAKE CITY
Lake City - Last rites were held Wednesday afternoon at the Woodlawn Church of Christ here for Mrs. John Veth, 72, who died at her home in Lake City Sunday morning. The Rev. Leon G. Triggs officiated. Pallbearers were Millard McChesney, Verne Mathews, Loren Jenks, Dan McCaully, George Krause, and Sam Redenius. Mrs. Loren Clark sang, accompanied by Mrs. A. M. Short. Burial was in Lake City cemetery.
Elizabeth V. Veth, daughter of Edward and Sarabonn (sic) Smith, was born at Lake City, August 26, 1879. In 1894 she was married to Albert Knapp, who died two months after their marriage. Two years later, she was married to Richard Neagle, who died at their home in Artesian, S.D., in April 1914. They had three children, one daughter, and two sons. The daughter died at the age of 13 months (1901).
On January 8, 1916, she was married to John Veth in Tulsa, Okla. Shortly afterwards they moved to Lake City, where she spent the remainder of her life.
Mrs. Veth was a member of Woodlawn Church of Christ, Lake City for 52 years.
She is survived by her husband; two sons, Thomas J. Neagle and Frank Neagle, Nemaha; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Frank Smith, Early; one sister, Bessie Rowan, Artesian, S.D.; and one half-brother, John Chandler of Spirit Lake.
