Mrs. Dorothy Hill Alexander, age 84, of Center Star, passed away Friday, Jan. 21, 2011. She was a devoted Christian, mother, granny, sister and friend.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. today at Elkins East Chapel Funeral Home. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Center Star Church of Christ, with Bill Lyons officiating. The casket will lie in state 1-2 p.m. Burial will follow in Center Star Cemetery.
Mrs. Alexander was preceded in death in 2008 by her husband of 60 years, Oliver Alexander Jr.; parents, Beatrice and Bessie Hill; a brother, Doyle Hill; and a special sister-in-law, Virginia Hill. She was a lifelong member of Center Star Church of Christ and had retired from Tee Jays. She loved cooking for her family and spending time with them, reading her Bible and growing beautiful flowers.
She is survived by daughters, Wanda Warren and husband, David, of Florence, Sherry Kirk and husband, Steve, of Killen; grandchildren, Alex Warren and wife, Ashley, of Decatur, Allison Kelso and husband, Eric, of Asheville, N.C., Courtney Embry and husband, Micah, of Rogersville, and Ramsey and Mallory Kirk, of Killen; great-granddaughters, Addi and Lexi Embry; sister, Marsue Haraway and husband, T.B., of Florence; brother, Harlon Hill, of Killen; sisters-in-law, Dot Trousdale, Betty Glass and husband, Glen, and Sara Alexander; nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Alex Warren, Ricky Haraway, Jerry Hill, Drew Phillips, Billy Ray Hill and James Hill.
The family offers special thanks to Dr. Robert Webb and the staff at Glenwood Rehab and Convalescent Center for the excellent care and love given Mrs. Alexander during her stay.
