The family departed Bremen, Germany on 23 September 1844 on the ship Herschel. After a voyage of 2 1/2 months, they arrived in Galveston, Texas on 5 December 1844 with the Adelsverein, the German Emigration Company. They were one of the founding families of New Braunfels, Texas on 21 March 1845 - it was Good Friday, 2 days before Easter.
Catherine was only 8 years of age when her mother died in childbirth in New Braunfels in August 1846.
Two years later, Catherine acquired a step-mother when her father married a widow, Catherine Weber Mueller.
Catherine married Charles David Bock on 23 September 1858 in Lavaca County, Texas.
They became the parents of: Henry, Mary Augusta, Leonora, Sophia, Ophelia Bertha, Anna, August Charles, and Robert Ernest Bock.
The family settled in Lavaca County, Texas where they were engaged in farming and ranching.
Catherine Pelzer Bock died at the home of her daughter Lenorah Bock Kersh, near Oakland, on 15 September 1905. She was 67 years of age.
