Mrs. Rhoda E. Phillips, widow of J. T. Phillips, died early Sunday morning at her home near Knights Station. She was seventy-eight years old last January. Her death was
caused by Influenza and pneumonia, after an Illness of ten days. Mrs. Phillips' maiden name was Rhoda E. Fletcher. She was born near Mt. Auburn Jan. 4, 1841. She was twice married. Her first husband was Levi S. Ridgeway. They
were married in February, 1859. Five children were born to them, four of whom are still living. They are Mrs.
Ida S. Widick and Mrs. Lora L. Smith of Decatur, Mrs. Abbie C. Fletcher of Blue Mound and Ira Ridgeway of Monument, Colo. Mr. Ridgeway died in 1869. Later Mrs. Ridgeway married J.T. Phillips. His death occured in 1911. In addition to her children, Mrs. Phillips leaves twenty grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She also leaves a sister and two brothers: Mrs. Martha J. Wilson, J.W. Fletcher of Decatur, and D.C. Fletcher of Buffalo, IL. Mrs. Phillips was a lifelong member of the Christian church and had many friends. The funeral will be held at 10:30 Tuesday morning at the Bethlehem church. The services will be conducted by Rev. R.E. Henry. Interment will be in Salem cemetery.
