Services for Maggie Cooney, 74, Thomasville, are at 11 a.m., April 5, 2008, at First Unity M.B. Church where she was a member. The Rev. Charlie Ross will officiate. Cremation is to follow the service. Active pallbearers are nephews. Honorary pallbearers are deacons of First Unity M.B. Church.
Mrs. Cooney died March 31 at Glen-Mor Nursing Home. Born July 28, 1933, in Mitchell County, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Maggie Mae McClendon. She was married to the late Rev. Benjamin Cooney. She was a cook for many years.
Survivors include sisters, Eula Anderson (Melvin), Betty Reed (James), Peggy Johns, Bobbie Jean Davis, Betty J. Johnson (James), Brenda McClendon, Glenda McClendon, Gloria Reese (Jessie); brothers, Jack McClendon (Kathaline), Roy McClendon (Lois), Eugene McClendon (Bobbie), James McClendon (Linda), Ronnie McClendon (Kim), Riley McClendon; two grandchildren; Deon Morgan, Bernard Morgan, godchild, Rhonda; and numerous other family and friends.
The viewing is from 2 to 8:30 p.m., today at the funeral home and from 9:30 a.m. until the funeral hour at the church on Saturday. The family will assemble at 10:15 a.m., Saturday at 303 Felix St. for the processional. Repast is at First Unity M.B. Church Annex.
