She was a daughter of John Craghead and Julia A. Smith, a granddaughter of John Craghead and Sarah Sallie Powell. She was my 2nd cousin 4 times removed.

Fulton Gazette
Obit - Aug 1914

Mrs. Mildred A. Halley, 82 years old, widow of Thomas H. Halley who was a surveyor of Callaway county many years and afterward served one term as collector, died of kidney and bladder trouble at the home of her son, H.C.D. Halley, three miles southeast of Auxvasse, Sunday. She had been in ill health several years but her condition was serious only a few days. Funeral services were held Wednesday at Unity Baptist church, east of Fulton, by the Rev. Dr. W.H. Burnham of this city, her pastor for many years and almost a life-time friend of the family. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Halley was born in Franklin county, Virginia, on September 30, 1882, and came to this county with her parents, John and Julia Craighead, in 1836. She was married in 1854. During the life of Mr. Halley, the family lived near Unity church. Seven sons of the union survive, namely: Henry C.D. and Thomas H., Callaway county; Dr. John J. and Tull C., Scotts Bluff, Neb.; Dr. Charles R., Sheridan, Wyo.; Dr. Samuel C. and Norman C., Fort Collins, Col.

Mrs. Halley was a woman of fine mentality and many splendid traits of character. She was a devoted mother, a good neighbor, and a true friend, and among her acquaintances was esteemed most highly. Friends of the family deeply sympathize with them in their berevement.

(note: two daughters were not mentioned in obit, although one of them was alive at that time)
