Mary was the youngest child of Major Jacob and Elizabeth Lants Sanders Wolf. Her mother had died in 1847 when she was about three years old and her father then died on 1 Jan 1863 mid Civil War. She and Dr. John Madison Casey had been courting by letter and such as Major Wolf did not approve of the relationship. However problems were resolved and the couple married in 1861 before her father died.
She was the mother of seven children. No headstone has been found in the Mountain Home Cemetery but it is well know that she and her husband lived all of their married lives there.
