STONE, FRANCIS (FRANK)
Frank Stone, aged 85 years, died at 10:30 o'clock this forenoon at the home of a son, Eugene Stone, whose home is near Station 20. The infirmities of age were the cause of death. Mr. Stone for a number of years lived in East Elkhart and a few years ago acquired a local reputation as a successful raiser of hogs, marketing some of the finest that ever were sold here. After the death of a daughter Banche (Vancha) Stone, four years ago, Mr. Stone went to live with another daughter Mrs. Ida Richie of Brooklyn. On July 27, last, he returned to Elkhart to visit relatives and a week later he became ill and was not able to return to Brooklyn.
The funeral services will be held at the home of Eugene Stone at 1 o'clock Saturday, conducted by Rev. S. H. Hall of Columbia City and Rev. L.J. Lehman of the Mennonite Brethren in Christ church. The burial will take place at Mishawaka.
Mr. Stone, who was a son of Abijah and Eleanor Stone, was born in Girard, PA., on September 19, 1837. The family moved to near Kalamazoo and in 1858 to a farm two miles south of Mishawaka. Mr. Stone was married to Miss Adeline Crowfoot at Mishawaka in 1860. In 1885 they moved to a farm near Elkhart. For a number of years Mr. Stone was a tenant on the Studebaker farm, moving to the Anthony Manning farm in 1901, in which he remained until the death of the daughter, who was his housekeeper.
Surviving Mr. Stone are three sons, Eugene Stone, Jerome Stone of this city and Lewis Stone of Hammond, Ind.; the daughter, Mrs. Ritchie; five grand children; nine great grandchildren, and a sister Mrs. Emeline Ralph of Kalamazoo.
NOTE: Daughters name was Vancha not Banche.
