EUGENE STONE
Eugene Stone 88 of Elkhart Route 1, died at 12:30 a.m. today in General Hospital, to which he was taken on Christmas day. He became ill last Oct. 15 and was in the hospital for a week, then was returned home. He was born Oct. 12, 1861 near Mishawaka, a son of Frank and Adeline (Crofoot) Stone. His wife, the former Esther Heffler whom he married May 31, 1884, died on Nov. 3, 1946. Mr. Stone had lived at his Route 1 residence for 37 years, moving there from Bristol.

Surviving are a daughter Mrs. F.E. (Maude) Hummel, who made her home with him and a brother, Lou Stone , at Hammond.
The body will be returned from the White funeral home to Mr. Stone's home where friends may call after Wednesday noon until services are held there at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday. Burial will be in the Osceola cemetery.
He had been a member of the Knights of Pythias lodge for 55 years and was affiliated with Clanthe Lodge No. 41 of Goshen.
