MRS. ESTHER STONE
Mrs. Esther Stone, 79, wife of Eugene Stone, died at 1:30 pm. Wednesday at her home on Route one, where she had lived for 35 years. She had been ill a week.
Mrs. Stone was a lifelong resident of Elkhart County. She was born near Wakarusa Sept. 20, 1867, the daughter of David and Malinda (Sailor) Heffner, and had spent her girlhood on a farm near Wakarusa. She moved to the present home from a farm near Bristol.
She and Mr. Stone were married May 31, 1884. Surviving beside the husband is a daughter Mrs. F. E. (Maud) Hummel, at home and a brother, David Heffner, of Baugo Township. The body was returned to the Stone home this afternoon from the Dale White funeral home, 221 West Lexington. Services will be held at the home at 2 p.m. Wednesday, in charge of the Rev. R.B. Kern, pastor of Trinity Methodist church. Burial will be in the Osceola cemetery. Mrs. Stone was a member of the Elkhart Pythian Sisters.
