A native of Jackson County, she was born June 6, 1919 to the late Thomas Judson and Florence Dills Buchanan. She grew up in the Barker's Creek Community of Jackson County prior to moving to Caswell County where she resided for 62 years. She was a homemaker who enjoyed quilting, crocheting and raising her six children and also was a member of the Mountain Hill Women's Auxiliary Club.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Edd Cope, brothers Johnny Buchanan and Coy Buchanan, sisters, Fannie Reynolds, Virginia Buchanan, Edith Carnes, Ethel Lambert and sons-in-law Frank Gregory and Michael Talbard and twin Gregory Grandsons.
Her surviving family members are; Shelby Jean Gregory and Judy Talbard of Ringgold, VA, Zeb and Helen Cope of Hampton VA., Ted and Marcia Cope of Timberlake, NC, Carol and Rob Windsor of Chapel Hill, NC and Vickey and Thomas Frazier of Sylva, NC; 10 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
